US taxpayers turned over billions in handouts to the pharmaceutical industry to subsidize their development of COVID vaccines, as depicted in the below chart created by <a href="https://www.forbes.com/sites/niallmccarthy/2021/05/06/which-companies-received-the-most-covid-19-vaccine-rd-funding-infographic/?sh=147916064333" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Forbes</a>.&nbsp;<img src="https://specials-images.forbesimg.com/imageserve/6093ad63055df184f863e38f/960x0.jpg?fit=scale" alt="https://specials-images.forbesimg.com/imageserve/6093ad63055df184f863e38f/960x0.jpg?fit=scale">Historic windfallOnce the development was complete, those companies earned billions in profits from the vaccines, with Pfizer alone earning nearly <a href="https://www.cnbc.com/2023/01/31/the-covid-pandemic-drives-pfizers-2022-revenue-to-a-record-100-billion.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">$38 billion</a> last year from COVID vaccine sales, while enjoying government protection from liability for vaccine injuries.&nbsp;More where that came fromGlobalists like the World Economic Forum (WEF) have now taken the position that those subsidies were not enough for the pharmaceutical industry. Additional taxpayer funds are needed to prepare for the next new viral strain. The WEF thus published a <a href="https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2023/01/pandemic-fund-preparation/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">piece</a> this year named “3 things the world is doing to prepare for the next pandemic”. &nbsp;The article advocates for government assistance in identifying new virus strains to help pharmaceutical companies develop new vaccines. These new vaccines would be produced in government subsidized factories placed outside the US.&nbsp;Global consulting firm McKinsey &amp; Company likewise <a href="https://www.mckinsey.com/featured-insights/themes/how-to-prepare-for-the-next-pandemic" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">claimed</a> that, “Federal funding may boost social determinants of health infrastructure” in “How to prepare for the next pandemic”. Ed Yong of The Atlantic <a href="https://www.npr.org/2021/10/03/1042883030/why-we-need-to-prepare-for-the-next-pandemic" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">wants</a> the funding be automatic, without being vulnerable to annual budget negotiations.Each of these plans requiring taxpayer funding assumes the main enemy of public health are viruses. &nbsp;Are they?Focus on the patient or the germs around them?CNN Chief Medical Correspondent Dr. Sanjay Gupta almost sounds as if he has adopted the terrain theory over germ theory, <a href="https://edition.cnn.com/2023/05/09/health/covid-public-health-emergency-ends-gupta/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">announcing</a> that old age and obesity are the factors driving hospitalizations.<blockquote>[T]he CDC estimates that the risk of hospitalization [with a positive COVID test] for those 75 or older is between 9 and 15 times higher than for those who are 18 to 29, and here in the United States, nearly 25 million people are older than 75.&nbsp;When it comes to our general health, a study published in the journal Clinical Infectious Diseases found that people with . . . severe obesity [had a] 4.4 times higher [risk of hospitalization than a healthy person.] . . . Forty percent of Americans are obese. [Emphases added].</blockquote>Time keeps on tickingIn 2019, <a href="https://ourworldindata.org/grapher/number-of-deaths-per-year" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">58 million</a> people died out of a total world population of <a href="https://www.worldometers.info/world-population/world-population-by-year/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">7.8 billion,</a> or about 0.8% of the global population. While 58 million deaths may sound very high, at a bit less than 1% of the population it is expected. In fact, if the population were evenly distributed by age, we would expect more than 1% of people to die each year. The over-representation of young people in the population brings down the death rate.&nbsp;But it cannot go much lower as long as people are aging, as the fragility that comes with advanced age weakens the heart and other organs, as well as the immune system, and disrupts the balance that allows cells to divide just enough to avoid both atrophy and tumors.&nbsp;It is thus no surprise to see the causes of death dominated by <a href="https://ourworldindata.org/causes-of-death" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">illnesses</a> such as heart disease, cancer and respiratory issues like pneumonia that challenge the elderly far more than the young:<figure class="image"><img src="https://res.cloudinary.com/aflds/image/upload/v1684145883/image_b4e9b8dfe2.png"></figure>Preventable cancer?The majority of deaths are due to advanced age. A relatively small portion, such as poisonings, accidents, drownings, suicides and war, are preventable through direct action. But a significant portion may be avoided indirectly through better eating habits and increased exercise. Just as fragility from aging weakens the organs and immune system, so does obesity. In fact, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) <a href="https://www.cdc.gov/healthyweight/effects/index.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">lists</a> both top causes of death, heart disease and cancer, among the illnesses for which the obese are at heightened risk.<blockquote>People who have overweight or obesity, compared to those with healthy weight, are at increased risk for many serious diseases and health conditions. These include:<ul><li>All-causes of death (mortality).</li><li>High blood pressure (hypertension).</li><li>High LDL cholesterol, low HDL cholesterol, or high levels of triglycerides (dyslipidemia).</li><li>Type 2 diabetes.</li><li>Coronary heart disease.</li><li>Stroke.</li><li>Gallbladder disease.</li><li>Osteoarthritis (a breakdown of cartilage and bone within a joint).</li><li>Sleep apnea and breathing problems.</li><li>Many types of cancer.</li><li>Low quality of life.</li><li>Mental illness such as clinical depression, anxiety, and other mental disorders4,5.</li><li>Body pain and difficulty with physical functioning6.</li></ul>*Overweight is defined as a body mass index (BMI) of 25 or higher. Obesity is defined as a BMI of 30 or higher. [Emphases added].</blockquote>The World Health Organization (WHO) even issued a <a href="https://www.who.int/europe/news/item/03-05-2022-obesity-causes-cancer-and-is-major-determinant-of-disability-and-death--warns-new-who-report" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">press release</a> in 2022 entitled, “Obesity causes cancer and is major determinant of disability and death, warns new WHO report," in which it warned that, “[o]besity might overtake smoking as the main risk for preventable cancer.” Some of the “many types of cancer” associated with obesity are depicted in this <a href="https://www.cancer.gov/about-cancer/causes-prevention/risk/obesity/obesity-fact-sheet#q3" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">diagram</a> produced by the National Cancer Institute.<figure class="image"><img src="https://res.cloudinary.com/aflds/image/upload/v1684146845/cancers_associated_with_obesity_infographic_enlarge_38123421d7.gif"></figure>According to <a href="https://www.ridingon.bike/2012/01/above-you-will-see-bmi-chart-for-men.html" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">BMI charts</a>, a 5'6" tall man who weighs 190 pounds is considered to be obese and at an elevated risk for cancer and the other diseases listed above.<figure class="image"><img src="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4p73olA0PVM/Tw1y--vT4DI/AAAAAAAAAYU/6Ima2QuGm58/s1600/bmi-chart-men.jpg" alt="https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-4p73olA0PVM/Tw1y--vT4DI/AAAAAAAAAYU/6Ima2QuGm58/s1600/bmi-chart-men.jpg"></figure>Trouble fighting infectionsWhile influenza may weaken an elderly person making them susceptible to a potentially life-ending bacterial pneumonia infection, we do not normally fear the same for a 40-year-old — unless they are obese. Scientists have, in fact, already demonstrated the immune system mechanisms debilitated by obesity, as <a href="https://www.news-medical.net/news/20220704/How-does-obesity-affect-the-immune-system.aspx" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">summarized</a> by Dr. Liji Thomas:<blockquote>As fat cells swell, fat mass increases, blood flow decreases, and less oxygen is made available to the fatty or adipose tissue (AT). As cells suffer and die, their loss results in the mechanical weakness of the fatty tissue. This acts on the immune system, together with increased gut permeability and the spread of bacterial toxins throughout the body, to lead to low-grade inflammation. Obesity is associated with a dysregulated T-cell response and Th1-skewing . . .</blockquote>Close the gyms or the fast food restaurants?<a href="https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">Less than 7 million deaths</a> have been attributed to COVID in the three and a half years of the declared pandemic, even using the PCR tests, with high false-positive rates, and even attributing late stage cancer deaths to COVID. And even that figure for COVID deaths pales in comparison to the cancer and heart disease deaths making up about half of the approximately 58 million annual deaths.&nbsp;And of those 7 million deaths, a debate lingers about what actually caused those deaths. How many were caused by hospital protocols promoting early use of ventilators and mandatory use of remdesivir which <a href="https://www.science.org/content/article/very-very-bad-look-remdesivir-first-fda-approved-covid-19-drug" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">may cause</a> acute kidney injuries? How many of the people who died were obese or elderly, conditions which would have likely led to the person succumbing to other infections in the absence of COVID? Finally, how many died from the actual interference of COVID pathogens in their respiratory function?No matter the resolution of that debate, far more lives would be saved by closing fast food restaurants and subsidizing gym and pool memberships rather than the pharmaceutical industry. Who's afraid of Big Bad Tech? 

A British vigilante group known as the “Blade Runners” is receiving widespread support from British taxpayers as it continues to destroy climate surveillance cameras across London.<h2>The ULEZ mandate</h2>By order of London Mayor Sadiq Khan, the city is peppered with ultra-low emission zones (ULEZs), areas accessible only to low-emission vehicles. Cars that do not meet the city’s environmental standards are charged £12.50 ($16) for entering the ULEZ. Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras positioned around the zones read license plates and check them against the vehicles’ make and model in real time. If a vehicle does not meet the environmental threshold, a fine is levied against the car owner.&nbsp;The ULEZ climate mandate has drawn heavy&nbsp;<a href="https://frontline.news/post/london-hundreds-protest-against-climate-mandates">protests</a> from residents, including&nbsp;<a href="https://frontline.news/post/british-veteran-launches-hunger-strike-as-unrest-grows-over-climate-mandates">hunger strikes</a> and refusals to pay fines. Taxpayers have also taken to disabling the ANPR surveillance cameras which Transport for London (TfL), the city’s transportation department, said will be used both for climate and law enforcement.<h2>Taxpayers cheer the ‘Blade Runners’</h2>Since the climate restrictions were expanded last year, the Blade Runners have taken to disabling and destroying hundreds of cameras. Some surveillance vans have been spotted covered in graffiti with their tires slashed, while others have been completely covered in tarp.Last month, 21 cameras were destroyed in the hours after Sadiq Khan was re-elected mayor of London, the&nbsp;Daily Mail&nbsp;<a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13538797/Moment-Blade-Runner-uses-power-tool-cut-ULEZ-camera-traffic-light-latest-attack-Sadiq-Khans-hated-scheme.html">reported</a>. Last weekend, Blade Runners used power tools to topple a ULEZ camera and traffic lights to the delight of some fellow taxpayers. In a video that was posted to social media, passing cars can be heard honking in support.The video received over 37,000 likes. Comments on the post were largely supportive, with users writing that, “When tyranny becomes law, rebellion becomes duty,” and “Fair play to them, it's a complete scam that does nothing.”Blade Runner Matt Hardy told the&nbsp;Daily Mail&nbsp;that the Blade Runners are “people pissed off about the tyranny reigning over us and getting out and doing things about it – real votes, real boys here.”<h2>‘These cameras are not about the climate. They are about control’</h2>British actor and influencer Laurence Fox said this week he was just given back his electronic devices by police after being arrested earlier this year for cheering on the Blade Runners:<blockquote>These cameras are not about the climate. They are about control. They are the primary infrastructure for all sorts of things that ideologues like the midget dictator [Sadiq Khan] would like to impose upon us.I can now finally say the word ‘Bladerunners’ again. Fisker is filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, the electric vehicle (EV) company announced Tuesday.<h2>‘Like other companies in the electric vehicle industry’</h2>“Fisker has made incredible progress since our founding, bringing the Ocean SUV to market twice as fast as expected in the auto industry and making good on our promises to deliver the most sustainable vehicle in the world,” a spokesperson <a href="https://assets.ctfassets.net/cghen8gr8e1n/6W19OiEBJDVIFVEmo4feHA/df902c5cb2b067251a300efb0b35f611/Fisker-Filing-FINAL.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">said</a>.The California-based company added it is not the only EV maker that has been struggling to stay in business.“We are proud of our achievements, and we have put thousands of Fisker Ocean SUVs in customers’ hands in both North American [sic] and Europe. But like other companies in the electric vehicle industry, we have faced various market and macroeconomic headwinds that have impacted our ability to operate efficiently. After evaluating all options for our business, we determined that proceeding with a sale of our assets under Chapter 11 is the most viable path forward for the company.”Fisker’s collapse is the latest indication that the EV industry is folding due to sinking demand. Other EV industry players are also cutting their losses as they jump ship.<h2>Hertz</h2>In March, Hertz CEO Stephen Scherr&nbsp;<a href="https://www.motorfinanceonline.com/news/hertz-ceo-resigns-amid-ev-investment-setback/#:~:text=Scherr's%20departure%20coincides%20with%20Hertz's,electric%20vehicle%20(EV)%20rentals">resigned</a> after his bet on EVs cost the car rental giant its biggest quarterly loss since 2020. Hertz had been praised by the Biden administration for its ambition to convert 25% of its fleet to EVs by the end of this year. In January, however, the company announced it would instead be selling its 20,000 EVs — including Teslas — at heavily discounted prices and replacing them with gas-powered cars.<h2>Mercedes-Benz</h2>Mercedes-Benz also recently had to give up its ambition to only sell electric cars by 2030. Instead, EVs are expected to make up only 50% of the German carmaker’s sales over the next decade.<h2>Apple</h2>In February, Apple abandoned its multi-billion dollar effort to create an electric car. Despite being a decade in the works and employing 2,000 people, Project Titan was axed due to falling consumer demand.<h2>Aston Martin</h2>A lack of consumer demand is also partly to blame for Aston Martin&nbsp;<a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13138123/Aston-Martin-puts-brakes-new-electric-supercar-2026-bosses-say-drivers-want-engines-throaty-roar.html">placing</a> its battery-operated “supercar” on hold until 2026.“Demand, certainly at an Aston Martin price point, is not what we thought it was going to be two years ago,” said Aston Martin Executive Chairman Lawrence Stroll.&nbsp;<h2>Ford</h2>In December, Ford slashed production of its flagship EV at its assembly plant in Dearborn, Michigan by half. For the last two years, British authorities have been testing AI-powered emotion recognition cameras on travelers in train stations, according to recently disclosed documents.<h2>What can the cameras see?</h2>In each of eight train stations around the UK, five to seven cameras or sensors scan the passing crowds. Using AI software from Amazon, the cameras use object recognition algorithms to spot criminal activity, trespassing, weapons, wet floors, overcrowding, and overstuffed trash cans.&nbsp;They can also alert authorities when passengers engage in “unusual behavior,” such as shouting, running, smoking, or skateboarding.&nbsp;A combination of existing cameras and newly installed smart cameras are being used for the surveillance project. All are equipped with Amazon’s Rekognition surveillance system.<h2>Emotional recognition</h2>Through a combination of facial and behavioral analyses, the Rekognition software allows officials to also <a href="https://www.wired.com/story/amazon-ai-cameras-emotions-uk-train-passengers/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">analyze visitors’ emotions</a>. Internal documents note that the cameras can detect whether a passenger is “happy, sad [or] angry.” They can also recognize passenger satisfaction, which “could be utilized to maximum advertising and retail revenue.”<h2>Anti-social behavior</h2>Authorities can also detect passengers who exhibit “anti-social behaviour,” which&nbsp;<a href="https://www.met.police.uk/advice/advice-and-information/asb/asb/antisocial-behaviour/what-is-antisocial-behaviour/">according</a> to London’s Metropolitan Police Service means “behaviour by a person which causes, or is likely to cause, harassment, alarm or distress to persons not of the same household as the person.”<h2>Social distancing, face masks, and demographics</h2>Other&nbsp;<a href="https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/24757655-usecases_dpas_review_managed_stations?responsive=1&amp;title=1">use cases</a> for the surveillance cameras include detecting whether passengers are keeping to social distancing rules and wearing face masks. The cameras can also scan for demographics by identifying people’s age profiles and “socio-economic classification,” which the documents note can create “revenue opportunities for better targeted advertising and product placement.”<h2>‘Quite a concerning step’</h2>The documents were obtained by Big Brother Watch, a civil rights and government watchdog group, in response to a Freedom of Information (FOI) request. Network Rail, a body within the Department of Transportation which manages most of the country’s train network, has been overseeing the surveillance project.&nbsp;“The rollout and normalization of AI surveillance in these public spaces, without much consultation and conversation, is quite a concerning step,” Jake Hurfurt, head of research and investigations at Big Brother Watch,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.wired.com/story/amazon-ai-cameras-emotions-uk-train-passengers/">told</a> Wired.As of now, the surveillance systems do not use facial recognition technology, which analyzes faces and matches them against facial images stored in certain databases.
