The Space Preservation Act of 2001 (<a href="https://www.congress.gov/bill/107th-congress/house-bill/2977/text" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">H.R.2977</a>), which detailed which weapons were not included in its ban on space-based weapons, sparked debate about the extent to which the government was developing non-conventional weapons.Just not from spaceAs a public bill <a href="https://www.govtrack.us/congress/bills/109/hr2420/cosponsors" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">cosponsored</a> by 35 congressmen in its reintroduction in 2005, the government not only acknowledged various “exotic” weapons, but declared them to be legal so long as they were launched from land, sea or planes. The Act specifically limited the weapons ban to weapons systems based “60 kilometers above the surface of the earth” and, to remove any doubt, expressly stated that other weapons may be developed and produced.&nbsp;<blockquote>Nothing in this Act may be construed as prohibiting the use of funds for . . . (3) testing, manufacturing, or production that is not related to space-based weapons or systems; or (4) civil, commercial, or defense activities (including communications, navigation, surveillance, reconnaissance, early warning, or remote sensing) that are not related to space-based &nbsp;weapons or systems.</blockquote>The Act went on to specify examples of weapons systems which would be allowed to be deployed from land, sea or planes, including Directed Energy (laser) Weapons (DEWs) and “exotic weapons systems” including chemtrails and electronic harassment (psychotronic attacks).Man-made earthquakes?The Act clarified that “exotic weapons” includes tectonic systems designed to destroy a “target population or region.”<blockquote>The term exotic weapons systems includes weapons designed to damage space or natural ecosystems . . . or climate, weather, and tectonic systems with the purpose of inducing damage or destruction upon a target population or region . . . [Emphases added].</blockquote><a href="https://svs.gsfc.nasa.gov/2953" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">According</a> to NASA, tectonic plates play a significant role in earthquakes.<blockquote>Tectonic Plates . . . The Earth's crust is constantly in motion. Sections of the crust, called plates, push against each other due to forces from the molten interior of the Earth. The areas where these plates collide often have increased volcanic and earthquake activity. [Emphases added].</blockquote>SpeculationIn including “tectonic systems” in the language of the Act, the government was referring to the technology for man-made earthquakes. Two decades later, the 7.8 magnitude earthquake on February 6, 2023 in Turkey sparked conjecture that it may have resulted from artificial means, with claims that the quake unusual and was not expected to occur in the way that it did based on historical records.Popular Mechanics, though, was quick to <a href="https://www.popularmechanics.com/science/environment/a42827842/turkey-earthquake-haarp-conspiracy-theory/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">downplay</a> those claims.<blockquote>Leave it to conspiracy theorists to take a little-understood technology and accuse it of high-level devastation. The latest conspiracy theory blames the United States Air Force’s High-frequency Active Auroroal Research Program (HAARP) for the tragic recent earthquakes in Turkey and Syria …The Air Force Research Laboratory owns the HAARP research facility, located near Gakona, Alaska, which was constructed in the 1990s and is now operated by the University of Alaska Fairbanks. Researchers at HAARP use a powerful high-frequency transmitter and an array of 180 HF crossed-dipole antennas to temporarily disrupt the ionosphere—the outermost layer of Earth’s atmosphere above the mesosphere, about 50 to 400 miles from Earth’s surface—in hopes of yielding potential communications and surveillance benefits. [Emphases added].</blockquote>According to Popular Mechanics, the government merely “excites” the atmosphere “temporarily”&nbsp;to better observe it.<blockquote>Scientists at HAARP use HF radio transmitters to heat small regions of the ionosphere to observe the effects. Using HAARP speeds up a process that can take satellites weeks or years to observe. “With a facility like HAARP,” the University of Alaska Fairbanks says, “it is possible to perform an experiment at will to create plasma structures and irregularities, use the ionosphere like an antenna to excite low-frequency waves, create weak luminous aurora-like glows, and a variety of other experiments.”Scientists observe the physical processes that occur within the excited regions. [Emphases added].</blockquote>Turkish news site Yeni Şafak, however, <a href="https://www.yenisafak.com/en/columns/nedret-ersanel/haarp-discussions-are-turkiyes-earthquakes-natural-induced-3660649" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">published</a> a piece noting the unusual severity of the earthquake and of a second earthquake nearby.<blockquote>In my previous column, I cited Scientist Prof. Övgün Ahmet Ercan saying, “Something extraordinary is happening. No such earthquake of this kind as been seen on the face of the earth.” . . .&nbsp;Professor of Earth and Ocean Sciences at the Canadian University of Victoria, Dr. Edwin Nissen, said: “The earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria was one of the largest earthquakes ever recorded on land. It is in the top five. Nobody was expecting such an earthquake on this faultline. . . .&nbsp;Professor of Earthquake Engineering at the University College of London, Dr. Tiziana Rossetto said: “. . . this is not a common event. It’s definitely not something we think about within a seismic design setting.” . . .Dr. Sylvain Barbot at the University of South Carolina in the U.S. said: “There are many surprising elements. Two large earthquakes take place on two different faultlines a few hours apart. I don’t think we have seen anything of this kind before. The second earthquake is on a less known line. We call this a ‘ghost line.’ It was passive. We wouldn’t have expected it to lead to an earthquake but we were mistaken.”Dr. Judith Hubbard from the Geology Department at New York Cornell University said: “It is not a common event. I studied earthquakes in various regions of the world for the last 20 years, this is much more complex. We can consider this earthquake as extraordinary.”Earth Sciences professor at Washington University, Harold Tobin said: “It is an event like no other. Not only in Turkey. It is the biggest earthquake in a residential location in the world and in the last century. It was expected, but its magnitude was not anticipated.” . . .Earth Sciences and Engineering professor at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Paul Martin Mai said: “Another large earthquake happening in the same area hours after the first one is scientifically very unusual.</blockquote>The author then turned to the capabilities of HAARP.<blockquote>There is a truckload of material available on HAARP and artificial earthquakes, in other words, “induced seismicity.” However, it is impossible to say it has been “proven.” Scientists are also firm about this matter.&nbsp;Yet, a correction needs to be made now: The right question is not, “can an artificial earthquake be produced?” but “can an earthquake be induced?”! We can now safely answer this question: Yes. Earthquakes can be artificially induced! … [Emphasis added].</blockquote>Just induced?Safak particularly took issue with the claim that the technology to induce earthquakes does not exist, noting human activities that regularly cause earthquakes albeit unintended.&nbsp;<blockquote>Even human practices such as deluging pressurized water to fault lines in order to drill shale gas/oil can cause this. [Emphasis added].</blockquote>The U.S. Department of the Interior's Geological Survey, in fact, openly <a href="https://www.usgs.gov/faqs/does-fracking-cause-earthquakes" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">states</a> that disposal of waste fluids and, to a lesser extent, fracking, have already led to many earthquakes.<blockquote>Most induced earthquakes are not directly caused by hydraulic fracturing (fracking). The recent increase in earthquakes in the central United States is primarily caused by disposal of waste fluids that are a byproduct of oil production. . . .&nbsp;In Oklahoma . . . 2% of earthquakes can be linked to hydraulic fracturing operations. Given the high rate of seismicity in Oklahoma, this means that there are still many earthquakes induced by hydraulic fracturing. The remaining earthquakes are induced by wastewater disposal. The largest earthquake known to be induced by hydraulic fracturing in the United States was a magnitude 4.0 earthquake that occurred in 2018 in Texas. &nbsp;[Emphases added].</blockquote>When it comes to fluid injection, the size of the “induced” earthquakes can be far greater than 4.0, <a href="https://www.usgs.gov/faqs/how-large-are-earthquakes-induced-fluid-injection" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">according</a> to the same government agency.<blockquote>The largest earthquake induced by fluid injection that has been documented in the scientific literature was a magnitude 5.8 earthquake on September 23, 2016 in central Oklahoma. &nbsp;[Emphases added].</blockquote>That magnitude 5.8 earthquake was almost 100 times stronger than the magnitude 4.0 earthquake caused by fracking, since the Richter magnitude scale is logarithmic. And these induced earthquakes are <a href="https://www.usgs.gov/faqs/are-earthquakes-induced-fluid-injection-activities-always-located-close-point-injection" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">not</a> even necessarily located close to the point where the fluid injection takes place.&nbsp;<blockquote>[T]he pressure increase created by injection can migrate substantial horizontal and vertical distances from the injection location. Induced earthquakes can occur 10 or more miles from injection wells. Induced earthquakes can also occur a few miles below injection wells. [Emphasis added].</blockquote>The government also <a href="https://www.usgs.gov/faqs/there-any-possibility-wastewater-injection-activity-could-interact-nearby-fault-trigger-major" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">points out</a>, in a Frequently Asked Questions section, that fluid injection may interact with a nearby fault line and that oil production has already "induced M7+ earthquakes."<blockquote>Is there any possibility that a wastewater injection activity could interact with a nearby fault to trigger a major earthquake that causes extensive damage over a broad region?So far, there is no documented example linking injection operations to triggering of major earthquakes.&nbsp;However, we cannot eliminate this possibility. Other human activities--for example&nbsp;oil production in Uzbekistan--have induced M7+ earthquakes.&nbsp; [Emphasis added].</blockquote>The government goes on to <a href="https://www.usgs.gov/news/featured-story/6-facts-about-human-caused-earthquakes" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">explain</a> why some techniques for oil production lead to earthquakes.<blockquote>Enhanced oil recovery involves the injection of water, steam or carbon dioxide into the formation from which oil and gas are extracted. These operations try to sweep the oil and gas towards wells that are extracting them. Enhanced oil recovery wells usually operate for years or decades and can produce large volumes of wastewater. &nbsp;[Emphasis added].</blockquote>The agency prepared this chart and an accompanying statement to show how a sharp uptick in earthquake activity corresponded with fluid injection.<figure class="image"><img src="https://res.cloudinary.com/aflds/image/upload/v1693140997/image_8643732094.png"></figure><blockquote>The central United States has undergone a dramatic increase in seismicity over the past 6 years. From 1973-2008, there was an average of 24 earthquakes of magnitude 3 and larger per year. From 2009-2014, the rate steadily increased, averaging 193 per year and peaking in 2014 with 688 earthquakes. So far in 2015, there have been 430 earthquakes of that size in the central U.S. region through the end of May. A British vigilante group known as the “Blade Runners” is receiving widespread support from British taxpayers as it continues to destroy climate surveillance cameras across London.<h2>The ULEZ mandate</h2>By order of London Mayor Sadiq Khan, the city is peppered with ultra-low emission zones (ULEZs), areas accessible only to low-emission vehicles. Cars that do not meet the city’s environmental standards are charged £12.50 ($16) for entering the ULEZ. Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras positioned around the zones read license plates and check them against the vehicles’ make and model in real time. If a vehicle does not meet the environmental threshold, a fine is levied against the car owner.&nbsp;The ULEZ climate mandate has drawn heavy&nbsp;<a href="https://frontline.news/post/london-hundreds-protest-against-climate-mandates">protests</a> from residents, including&nbsp;<a href="https://frontline.news/post/british-veteran-launches-hunger-strike-as-unrest-grows-over-climate-mandates">hunger strikes</a> and refusals to pay fines. Taxpayers have also taken to disabling the ANPR surveillance cameras which Transport for London (TfL), the city’s transportation department, said will be used both for climate and law enforcement.<h2>Taxpayers cheer the ‘Blade Runners’</h2>Since the climate restrictions were expanded last year, the Blade Runners have taken to disabling and destroying hundreds of cameras. Some surveillance vans have been spotted covered in graffiti with their tires slashed, while others have been completely covered in tarp.Last month, 21 cameras were destroyed in the hours after Sadiq Khan was re-elected mayor of London, the&nbsp;Daily Mail&nbsp;<a href="https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-13538797/Moment-Blade-Runner-uses-power-tool-cut-ULEZ-camera-traffic-light-latest-attack-Sadiq-Khans-hated-scheme.html">reported</a>. Last weekend, Blade Runners used power tools to topple a ULEZ camera and traffic lights to the delight of some fellow taxpayers. In a video that was posted to social media, passing cars can be heard honking in support.The video received over 37,000 likes. Comments on the post were largely supportive, with users writing that, “When tyranny becomes law, rebellion becomes duty,” and “Fair play to them, it's a complete scam that does nothing.”Blade Runner Matt Hardy told the&nbsp;Daily Mail&nbsp;that the Blade Runners are “people pissed off about the tyranny reigning over us and getting out and doing things about it – real votes, real boys here.”<h2>‘These cameras are not about the climate. They are about control’</h2>British actor and influencer Laurence Fox said this week he was just given back his electronic devices by police after being arrested earlier this year for cheering on the Blade Runners:<blockquote>These cameras are not about the climate. They are about control. They are the primary infrastructure for all sorts of things that ideologues like the midget dictator [Sadiq Khan] would like to impose upon us.I can now finally say the word ‘Bladerunners’ again. Fisker is filing for Chapter 11 bankruptcy, the electric vehicle (EV) company announced Tuesday.<h2>‘Like other companies in the electric vehicle industry’</h2>“Fisker has made incredible progress since our founding, bringing the Ocean SUV to market twice as fast as expected in the auto industry and making good on our promises to deliver the most sustainable vehicle in the world,” a spokesperson <a href="https://assets.ctfassets.net/cghen8gr8e1n/6W19OiEBJDVIFVEmo4feHA/df902c5cb2b067251a300efb0b35f611/Fisker-Filing-FINAL.pdf" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">said</a>.The California-based company added it is not the only EV maker that has been struggling to stay in business.“We are proud of our achievements, and we have put thousands of Fisker Ocean SUVs in customers’ hands in both North American [sic] and Europe. But like other companies in the electric vehicle industry, we have faced various market and macroeconomic headwinds that have impacted our ability to operate efficiently. After evaluating all options for our business, we determined that proceeding with a sale of our assets under Chapter 11 is the most viable path forward for the company.”Fisker’s collapse is the latest indication that the EV industry is folding due to sinking demand. Other EV industry players are also cutting their losses as they jump ship.<h2>Hertz</h2>In March, Hertz CEO Stephen Scherr&nbsp;<a href="https://www.motorfinanceonline.com/news/hertz-ceo-resigns-amid-ev-investment-setback/#:~:text=Scherr's%20departure%20coincides%20with%20Hertz's,electric%20vehicle%20(EV)%20rentals">resigned</a> after his bet on EVs cost the car rental giant its biggest quarterly loss since 2020. Hertz had been praised by the Biden administration for its ambition to convert 25% of its fleet to EVs by the end of this year. In January, however, the company announced it would instead be selling its 20,000 EVs — including Teslas — at heavily discounted prices and replacing them with gas-powered cars.<h2>Mercedes-Benz</h2>Mercedes-Benz also recently had to give up its ambition to only sell electric cars by 2030. For the last two years, British authorities have been testing AI-powered emotion recognition cameras on travelers in train stations, according to recently disclosed documents.<h2>What can the cameras see?</h2>In each of eight train stations around the UK, five to seven cameras or sensors scan the passing crowds. Using AI software from Amazon, the cameras use object recognition algorithms to spot criminal activity, trespassing, weapons, wet floors, overcrowding, and overstuffed trash cans.&nbsp;They can also alert authorities when passengers engage in “unusual behavior,” such as shouting, running, smoking, or skateboarding.&nbsp;A combination of existing cameras and newly installed smart cameras are being used for the surveillance project. All are equipped with Amazon’s Rekognition surveillance system.<h2>Emotional recognition</h2>Through a combination of facial and behavioral analyses, the Rekognition software allows officials to also <a href="https://www.wired.com/story/amazon-ai-cameras-emotions-uk-train-passengers/" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">analyze visitors’ emotions</a>. Internal documents note that the cameras can detect whether a passenger is “happy, sad [or] angry.” They can also recognize passenger satisfaction, which “could be utilized to maximum advertising and retail revenue.”<h2>Anti-social behavior</h2>Authorities can also detect passengers who exhibit “anti-social behaviour,” which&nbsp;<a href="https://www.met.police.uk/advice/advice-and-information/asb/asb/antisocial-behaviour/what-is-antisocial-behaviour/">according</a> to London’s Metropolitan Police Service means “behaviour by a person which causes, or is likely to cause, harassment, alarm or distress to persons not of the same household as the person.”<h2>Social distancing, face masks, and demographics</h2>Other&nbsp;<a href="https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/24757655-usecases_dpas_review_managed_stations?responsive=1&amp;title=1">use cases</a> for the surveillance cameras include detecting whether passengers are keeping to social distancing rules and wearing face masks. The cameras can also scan for demographics by identifying people’s age profiles and “socio-economic classification,” which the documents note can create “revenue opportunities for better targeted advertising and product placement.”<h2>‘Quite a concerning step’</h2>The documents were obtained by Big Brother Watch, a civil rights and government watchdog group, in response to a Freedom of Information (FOI) request. Network Rail, a body within the Department of Transportation which manages most of the country’s train network, has been overseeing the surveillance project.&nbsp;“The rollout and normalization of AI surveillance in these public spaces, without much consultation and conversation, is quite a concerning step,” Jake Hurfurt, head of research and investigations at Big Brother Watch,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.wired.com/story/amazon-ai-cameras-emotions-uk-train-passengers/">told</a> Wired.As of now, the surveillance systems do not use facial recognition technology, which analyzes faces and matches them against facial images stored in certain databases.
